Symmol

Symmol is the musical alias of 26-year old creative William Amson. His debut EP in 2019, Under Orion, displayed early on a passion for innovation and intricacy that remains deeply intrinsic to the project. His distinct aesthetic fuses the dichotomous soundscapes of ambience and minimalism with texture and detail; rich, warm harmonies with complex, shifting sound design; nature with humanity.

Growing up surrounded by vast expanses of nature and rugged, striking landscapes, regularly spending time in the remote solitude of Argyll, played a major influence on his relationship with both the natural world and art itself. Despite this upbringing, and living in a small rural town in the Midlands, Symmol takes inspiration from a diverse range of artists from every corner of the globe, from the atmospheric, raw and emotional sounds of Daughter, Crywolf and EDEN, to the detailed and technical production of Mr. Bill, KOAN Sound and Trifonic, all the way to the lush ambiences and cinematic soundscapes of Subheim, Hecq and Hans Zimmer.

With releases on labels ranging from Billegal Beats to Ransom Note Records, Symmol has received support from countless industry powerhouses throughout his career, including Kelbin, Kuzu, and Mr. Bill, who signed Symmol’s 2022 EP When All Stands Still to his experimental and glitch-centric label Billegal Beats. The release was met with overwhelming support, and was Symmol’s most perfected and refined project to date. Following the success of the EP, Symmol was invited to do an interview and guest mix on DJ Blemish's "Soul Metropolis" Radio Show.

In September of 2022 Symmol released the 2 track Home EP, showcasing the culmination of his aesthetic in two brand new drum & bass songs, along with the track Oclusia on the Mr. Bill x Billegal Beats x Splice compilation that same month. The following year, Symmol released the long awaited Gone, Pt. II, a dark, aggressive and textured follow up to his 2020 track Gone. 2024 saw the release of his sophomore Billegal EP, When We Decay, featuring the song illustris [blue_star], the most technical, unique and innovative release of his career. In early 2025 Symmol joined Fossil Radio at launch as a resident DJ, hosting a bi-weekly set showcasing underground and experimental electronic music.

With an upcoming EP release on the horizon, Symmol’s catalogue now spans over 8 EPs and various singles and remixes, each exploring a unique sonic realm and telling its own distinct story, having amassed more than 20,000 streams across all platforms.
